Castles in the air

Art on Madison is pleased to present Castles in the Air, a solo exhibition by Cleveland based painter, Timothy Gaewsky, opening February 2, 2018 - March 2, 2018. Castles in the Air explores Gaewsky’s personal nostalgia for the retro 8-bit video games that he played growing up in the 1980’s and early ’90’s. Gaewsky’s colorful and whimsical paintings appropriate and manipulate design elements and visual cues from some of his favorite games. Gaewsky is interested in ways his new arraignments of modified game references might spark a sense of nostalgia, i.e. a sentimental yet deceptive or false memory associated with games from that era.
