The preceding compositions are a compound of found sounds, appropriated digital recordings, manipulated sampled instruments, and original and performed sounds that I'd like to think of as Soundscapes. I'm attracted to certain natural sounds that I hear within any given environment and the potential for those natural sounds to be manipulated, with appropriated audio, to create the sensation of experiencing a separate, psychological, immersive environment. I'm attracted to the prospective narrative qualities of the soundscapes as I find them, for my part, as an alternative to watching motion pictures. I want the soundscapes to enable a listener to escape or enter in to another environment, to have the sensation of experiencing an occurrence or a fragment of an ongoing narrative, which is shaped as a mental landscape of the mind.
